Disney Appoints Former Morgan Stanley Head James Gorman as New Chair.
James Gorman, the former head of Morgan Stanley, has been named as the new chair of Disney. Gorman, who is already a director on Disney's board and leads the succession planning committee, will take over from current chair Mark Parker in January 2024. This appointment comes as Disney is in the process of searching for a successor to CEO Bob Iger.
Gorman stated that a critical priority for the company is to appoint a new CEO, which is expected to be announced in early 2026. This timeline will allow for a smooth transition before Bob Iger's contract concludes in December 2026.
