Linklaters Bolsters New York Finance Team with Four Top Partners from A&O Shearman.

Linklaters has significantly strengthened its New York office by hiring four senior finance partners from A&O Shearman. The team includes David Lucking, a global co-head of A&O Shearman's financial markets practice, along with John Hwang, Derek Poon, and Dan Guyder. This move is part of Linklaters' strategy to enhance its derivatives, securitization, and restructuring capabilities in the US and globally.

The new hires bring extensive expertise in various areas of finance. Lucking specializes in derivatives and structured finance transactions, while Hwang and Poon are experts in asset finance and securitization. Guyder focuses on out-of-court restructurings and bankruptcy cases. This acquisition follows Linklaters' earlier recruitment of a six-lawyer M&A team from legacy Shearman & Sterling, led by George Casey.

Linklaters has been actively expanding its US presence, with nearly 50 partners now across its two US offices. The firm has made several strategic hires in energy, arbitration, finance, restructuring, and M&A over the past two years. These efforts have already yielded results, with the firm securing landmark mandates from major clients like Rio Tinto and Volkswagen.
