Neuberger Berman-led Consortium Invests in EQT's Nord Anglia Education at $14.5bn Valuation.
Neuberger Berman is leading a consortium taking a stake in EQT-backed global school operator Nord Anglia, valuing the company at $14.5 billion. The deal includes an equity injection of about $10 billion, with $8 billion already secured and plans to raise additional financing. Existing backers, including the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board and EQT, will also participate in the investment.
EQT, which has been invested in Nord Anglia since 2008, will maintain control of the business while selling holdings from an older fund and reinvesting through a newer vehicle. This arrangement allows institutional backers to cash out while EQT retains control of the group.
The investment marks a growing trend of private equity firms betting on the education sector, driven by rising enrolment in private schools and the sector's resilience during economic challenges. Nord Anglia, known for its high-end private schools, currently operates nearly 100 schools across 33 countries, teaching close to 100,000 students.
